Torres del Paine

Sixteen of us ventured for a multi-day hike in the Torres del Paine national park in southern Chile. Olly, Hugh, Carla and I trekked the seven kilometre route into the park whilst others took a transfer. We all then hiked up to the Refugio Chileno for the night. At four the next morning we awoke and were soon tramping en masse to the Mirador Los Torres to watch the sunrise on Easter day.

After handing out some Easter eggs on the Mirador, Sean and I hightailed it round to the Refugio Los Cuernos for midday. To kill time in the afternoon I ventured up the middle section of the 'W' route, having a dip in Lake Nordenskjold on the way back. After camping at Los Cuernos, Sean and I sped up to the Grey Glacier and back to meet everyone else at Refugio Lago Pehoe, completing a near 80km route round the park. We felt it!
